WEST NILE VIRUS has the potential to infect horses and humans. Mosquitoes obtain the virus from feeding on infected birds. People infected with the West Nile virus can experience mild to severe flu-like symptoms. While usually mild, in serious cases the symptoms can cause death. There is no vaccine to prevent West Nile virus. Prevention should focus on avoiding mosquito bites and reduction of potential mosquito breeding activity.
St. LOUIS ENCEPHALITITS can affect the central nervous system and cause severe complications, even death. Mosquitoes can transmit the virus to animals and humans after feeding on infected birds. Just like the West Nile virus, there is no vaccine to prevent St. Louis encephalitis.
CHIKUNGUNYA is a virus that can be transmitted to humans by mosquitos. Transmission to humans may occur when infected female mosquitoes attempt to feed on a human host. The primary species of mosquitoes that may transmit the virus are Aedes Aegypti and Aedes Albopictus. the eggs of these mosquitoes are laid just above the waterline in water- holding containers. When water level rises, the eggs hatch into larvae, where they continue to develop through the pupal stage to the adult that will fly and seek a blood meal.
ZIKA virus is transmitted by mosquitoes to humans. The virus has recently spread to the Americas. Symptoms of infection are usually mild, but severe complications including serious birth defects and various neurological and autoimmune complications can result from infection with the virus. Avoiding mosquito bites is the best defense against Zika virus infection

We can provide a program that will take into account your surroundings, your lifestyle, your family, pets, and sensitivities while seeking objectives for a reduction in the biting insects in your area. Along with our program we will offer suggestions on how "you" can help "fight the bite". Although we can't promise a complete eradication, we can provide some relief when it comes to our biting backyard friends.
In Florida we have over 80 species of mosquitos and 30 of them are found in every county in the state. Some are more often associated with certain areas and specific habitats. For instance, there are specific species only found in Land Crab holes and others that are only found in tree holes or containers, while others are frequent daytime and nighttime biters. Here in the Tampa Bay area we have the following to contend with:
Besides that annoying itch, mosquitoes can carry diseases such as West Nile virus, St.Louis encephalitis, Chikunggunya, and now the latest, the Zikka virus.
